John Lennon received a lot of flak for the 3 studio albums he made between (Some Time in NYC, Mind Games, Walls and Bridges). Rolling Stone, the magazine who promoted the art of being cool by trashing everything they believed wasn't drug-influenced enough, heavily and viciously criticized this album in particular, because it was not "Sgt. Pepper's"/5().

The song Mind Games is one of my favorite John Lennon songs, it has a soaring beauty. Like #9 Dream off Walls and Bridges, which is magical, it is a song only John Lennon could have written. Out The Blue is a great song. Overall a underrated album .
  8. Moogushura says:
John stopped working with Phil Spector as a co-producer and because of John and Yoko’s issues, Mind Games was produced solely by Lennon. It was recorded in John’s usual quick-fire fashion, And like Some Time in New York City, it touched on many themes and vignettes from John’s life – but this time it largely avoided overtly political.

Listen to a new 'Ultimate Mix' of 'Mind Games,' from the new John Lennon 'Gimme Some Truth' box set due out to mark his 80th birthday. Top .
